President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “We are defending you, Victorious Ukraine will join EU”
In a rousing speech to the European Parliament today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told EU lawmakers: « We are defending you, » as he rallied leaders to step up support for his war-ravaged country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he believed his country would join the European Union after emerging victorious from its war with Russia.
He made his remark, Ukraine became a candidate to join the EU last June but the process of joining the 27-nation bloc takes several years.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the European Parliament that his country’s troops fighting Russian forces « are defending you », as he urged more EU military support.

The European Parliament greeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with a standing ovation as he arrived to address MEPs on his first visit to Brussels since Russia’s invasion.
« Ukraine is Europe and your nation’s future is in the European Union, » parliament president Roberta Metsola said in a speech. « States must consider, quickly, as a next step, providing long-range systems and the jets you need to protect the liberty too many have taken for granted. »
